Irish Embassy Tokyo

In 2019 the Irish government launched an international design competition for a new embassy in Tokyo. The small site is extremely complex with severe massing constraints imposed by the daylighting requirements of neighbouring properties. The brief was equally complex and included a residence for the ambassador, embassy staff facilities, consular facilities, a public event and exhibition space and library. Our proposal created two volumes, one public and the other private, separated by a sunken garden.
