Canning Town
This residential tower design was for an invited competition in Canning Town, east London. The location is challenging due to the lack of coherent urban grain surrounding the site and the proximity of the A13 flyover and a high tension pylon.
The brief required 250-300 one, two and three bed units, with 30% affordable. The proposal puts all the units in a single 50 storey tower with 6 apartments per floor (eg. 4 x two bed and 2 x one bed). The larger units had dual aspects and all the apartments featured continuous winter gardens along their full facade length, acting as a buffer zone between inside and out.
